It's often said that this painting was bought by Theo van Gogh, the painter's brother, but this is not true. Theo was instrumental in getting Vincent's works exhibited, but this painting was in fact bought by the art collector Anna Boch. She was the sister of Eugene Boch, who was a friend of Vincent's and an impressionist painter himself.
